Romanian graffiti

Romanian graffiti is amazing

Wherever you wander in Bucharest, you are sure to find some examples of graffiti. Most of it is pretty lousy, and only consists of tagging - the lowest form of graffiti.

However if you like graffiti art, then the place to go it down, underground, into the metro system and then onto some of their older lines such as M4 (Laromet - Gard de Nord), where the authorities are still using the oldest trains. The trains are completely covered in graffiti. In recent years, they have finally decided that while not repainting the outsides of the trains, at least they would clean the windows - which is a bit of a blessing, as then you at least can have a good guess at where you are - as you will quickly discover, while the modern trains tell you the next station, the old trains only have the guard announcement - which is a bit of a problem if you speak no Romanian.

The inside of these trains only have lots of tags - rather than graffiti worthy of this page.

You will see it also on buildings, and on other trains but it is safe to say nothing matches the artistry of the underground here!
