Pta. Charles de Gaulle

by John Biggs
(Bucharest)

At the entrance to Bucharest coming from the airport is one of the well-known glass buildings in the city.... Vodafone building, Piata Charles de Gaulle. This is an interesting building because of the design for the glass facade, wrapping around the round corner and ending at the two diagonal edges, and for the use of glass on the interior. In front of the building is a large rough stone or concrete disk with a cross pattern (at the crossroads) in a modern/primitive style (my interpretation), maybe a reference to the Romanian sculptor Brancusi.
