Danube Delta: A great place to spend a weekend!
Public domain image of the Danube Delta from WikipediaThis Delta is one of my favourite places to visit. I went with my family, and we stayed in a hotel in Tulcea.
There are no roads in the Delta, and so you need to find a fisherman to take you along the rivers. We went in Autumn, and had to dress up very warmly, due to the cold winds on the lake. However, it really was worth it, the views you will see are complete breath taking, and every where we seemed to go, there were birds in the trees, which silently took off and flew away as we passed by.

This is a public domain picture of the Danube delta from space (Source Wikipedia). The Danube runs into the Black Sea at this point. As you can see it covers a wide area. There are lots of little islands, where you can find hotels and villages.

After we had been on a tour of the lakes, we were very hungry. We asked a fisherman where was the best fish restuarant in the area. The restaurant was full - and we were about to be turned away... My father-in-law had an excellent idea - he told a little white lie... what a shame, I was going to bring 10 English tourists here next week... the next moment - as if by magic - the man returned with a 'your table is ready!'. The fish was amazing and well worth the trip.
