Weather in Bucharest is getting warmer
The weather in Bucharest is starting to warm up again. Bucharest girls will soon be back out in their Spring clothes. My wife was looking for more Winter clothes - a pleasure we enjoy together. She picks out fabulous clothes, while I hold the coats and make as realistic comments as I can, while trying not to buy anything more for me - my cupboards are full of clothes - more than ever before.

Why do I have so many clothes? Well the weather in Bucharest is not like British weather, where everything warms up and cools down slowly. Here it goes from super cold to warm to hot in a series of big jumps. Each set of weather conditions need a completely different wardrobe. The problem of course being that as the weather changes every 3 months or so that there is very little time to wear out the clothes. It takes an effort to wear all the different Winter coats I have already.

The weather however is great. The thick amounts of snow is quickly vanishing. The sun is out, and the snow is now quickly melting. MY snow grips have gone back in the cupboard for another year. It is now starting to get more dangerous outside as the weather warms up, the snow starts to pour off the roof in amazing avalanches. My wife is keen for me to walk in the middle of roads. Over cautious? I have all sorts of friends who have dents in their cars where the snow has hit it. I certainly would not want to be under it!A big difference between England and Romanian education is this is the first year that I don't get a February holiday. It is really annoying as this was always this the the time when I could find super-cheap holidays in Hungry and Austria. It was a nice time to wander around with my wife and just relax and unwind. This year I am needing to simply push forward with my lessons. It is hard going for both the teachers and the pupils in the school - 13 weeks of school, without a break. As the day in my school goes from 8.30 to 5.15 for the older children, it is a long day in a long term. The weather in Bucharest is still too cold for putting out my seeds, but this year I am really hoping to grow lots of English vegetables in my garden - I am also growing seeds to preserve rare variety of British traditional crops. For the first year, I am able to grow seeds at schools, which will then grow over the summer. This leads me to the next great question - I have to decide where I should put my seeds this year. I have access to two different countryside properties. I really am not sure where I will be spending my Summer. The old family cow has finally been sold so at least this means that my crops are safe from being eaten in a day (it was always a problem - my entire pumpkin patch was devoured in one day). My final exciting news this week is the introduction of Facebook widgets to my website pages. Within a week, I have gained 50 new Romanian readers. I really do hope that everyone continues to share and enjoy this weekly blog. I really do enjoy writing this weekly and I am looking forward to hearing more from my readers.
