Retezat National Park in Hunedoara County
Public domain image of Retezat National Park (Source: Wikipedia)This National Park is located in Hunedoara county, Romania. It was founded in 1935 and has an area of 380 km2. This is a really great place to go walking and climbing, as it has over 60 mountain peaks to explore and over 100 glacial lakes. The area shelters one of Europe's last remaining, unaffected natural primary forest and the largest single area of pristine mixed forest.
It is a great place to find wild animals. These are public domain images of some of a wolf and a lynx you may see (source Wikipedia). You can also find brown bear, wild boar, European Wildcat, chamois, Roe Deer and red deer, as well as small carnivore species such as Eurasian Badger and Eurasian otter In addition to the many animals here, it is also a wonderful place for botanists, with 1190 of the 3450 plant species of Romania, of which 130 have the "endangered" or "vulnerable" status growing here. If you do come here, I would personally suggest avoiding late Autumn and Early Spring, as this is when the bears are either about to hibernate, and so will eat anything to build up their final fat reserves, or be coming out of hibernation and being really hungry.
