Pictures of Romania - Perfect photos wherever you look!
All around this site you can find pictures of Romania. When I have time I will add more pictures and photos of Romania. At the moment this site grows when I have a spare moment - such as when baby Victor is asleep or on my daily trips on the metro (underground) to and from school. I love my life in Romania - but it is a country on the move. People who can leave the poverty of the countryside move to the shining lights of Bucharest or the other cities. The ways of the countryside are slowly getting lost and being replaced by overgrown fields and little forgotten tumble down houses - or elegant, over large and out of place modern houses which still lay empty. Those in Bucharest dream of even bigger dreams and try to escape the country all together. Britain has put a lid on who can work there - though we are still happy to bleed this health system of all their doctors and nurses. I feel like the exception - I live in Bucharest t dream of the day I can ditch teaching, commuting, and noise and pollution and go back to the country. In the country - wherever you look - or photo could have come straight out of a book. If you get deep into the countryside - along some dirt road little pieces of paradise await. Oddly Romanians gather near streams in the mountains and insist on throwing all their bags and bottles into any flowing water - polluting its own length. The pictures of Romania presented by the international media focus on only the worst of this country - grinding poverty, complaining Roma, corruption and despair. The true picture is hidden even to many Bucharest Romanians - who hate the countryside and wonder what I see in it - is its constant beauty, its gentle pace of life and lack of complications. I really hope over time that more people will come and share their pictures of Romania - and let the world know that despite this being a ridiculously difficult place for tourists to come and visit due its complete lack of facilities and informative road signs - it is still a great holiday adventure. The other picture of Romania is also hidden - while I love the primitive simplicity of the countryside and outside toilets - there is hidden technology everywhere - Grandma has a satellite TV and Internet connection. Your mobile phone works almost everywhere and everyone has one or more in their pockets... Bucharest lacks lots of normal amenities but is full of huge TV like advertising hoardings and flashing zebra crossings. So come on - share your experiences and sign up to become a member of my club. The more questions you ask - the quicker my site grows - I have lots of members - all of whom love Romania and want to share that love with you today. Don't forget to share you best photos of Romania - up to 4 at a time!
