Ceahlau Massif

The Ceahlau Massif is one of the most renowned mountain ranges of Romania. (Source: Public Domain: Wikipedia))It is located in the Eastern Carpathians chain, in Neamţ County, in the Moldavia region. There are two important peaks to visit and climb - Toaca (1904 m altitude) and Ocolaşul Mare (1907m altitude). There are also 2 important rivers and a lake to explore: to the east, Bistriţa River and Lake Bicaz and to the south by the Bicaz River. The entry point to the national park is Izvorul Muntelui village, 12 km north-east of Bicaz or to the north, Mount Ceahlău is also accessible from Durău. This area is full of rare species of plants, some which are not seen anywhere else in Romania.
